4th Treasure Hunt

For the second consecutive year, the Renel team participated in the 4th Treasure Hunt, titled this year “The Mermaid’s Secret and the Key of Thessaloniki,” held at the New Waterfront of Thessaloniki.

Following the highly successful participation of the Renel Trekking Academy (RTA) in last year’s 3rd Treasure Hunt—where we secured third place—this year, we finished in 7th place.

Participants had to decode ancient symbols and solve riddles connecting the legend of the mermaid to the city’s history, searching for the key that would lead them to a hidden treasure where reality meets mythology.

Our team covered many kilometers, pushed their limits, and, through teamwork and collaboration, managed to solve all the game’s puzzles.

The 4th Treasure Hunt activity aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) due to its focus on teamwork, cultural heritage, and physical activity. Specifically, it supports:

  1. SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being

    • Encourages physical activity through walking, running, and problem-solving in an outdoor environment.

    • Promotes mental well-being by fostering teamwork, cognitive engagement, and social interaction.

  2. SDG 4 – Quality Education

    • Enhances learning through gamification, encouraging participants to decode symbols, solve riddles, and engage with local history.

    • Raises awareness of Thessaloniki’s cultural and historical heritage.

  3. SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities

    • Promotes appreciation of Thessaloniki’s urban landscape and historical significance.

    • Encourages public engagement with city spaces like the New Waterfront, fostering a sense of community and sustainable urban living.

  4. SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals

    • Strengthens collaboration and teamwork within the Renel team and among participants.

    • Encourages corporate and community engagement in cultural and educational initiatives.

This event goes beyond just a game—it supports sustainability, well-being, and education while reinforcing community bonds!
